Terms of Service

The rules for using Grammarlyzer's checker, AI Polish, guides, and site services

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Grammarlyzer, including the website, browser-based grammar checker, opt-in AI Polish feature, educational grammar guides, support pages, and related content. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Grammarlyzer is designed for general writing assistance and English grammar education. The service may change over time as we improve the checker, update educational content, adjust analytics or advertising integrations, or add new writing features. Continued use after a posted update means you accept the updated terms.

Description of Service

Grammarlyzer provides a free browser grammar checker for common English spelling, punctuation, usage, agreement, and style issues. Routine checking is intended to run locally in your browser. The checker helps identify likely issues and present suggestions, but it does not replace a writer's judgment.

AI Polish is separate and opt-in. When you choose to use AI Polish, the draft you submit may be sent to a cloud service to generate a rewrite in the selected tone or style. You should not submit sensitive, confidential, regulated, or private material unless you are comfortable sending that content for processing under the applicable privacy disclosures.

The Learn section and support pages are educational resources. They explain common grammar decisions, confused words, punctuation patterns, sentence structure issues, and editing workflows. These materials are informational and may not cover every style guide, jurisdiction, academic requirement, employer policy, or professional standard.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Grammarlyzer only for lawful, reasonable, and non-abusive purposes. You may use the checker and guides for personal writing, study, workplace drafting, teaching support, editorial review, and similar writing workflows.

You may not use the service to attempt unauthorized access, disrupt the site, scrape at abusive volume, bypass security or quota controls, upload malicious code, interfere with analytics or advertising systems, impersonate another person, violate intellectual property rights, or process content in a way that breaks applicable law. You also may not use automated access patterns that degrade performance for other users.

If a feature has limits, quotas, or technical safeguards, you agree not to evade them. We may restrict, suspend, or block access when usage appears abusive, unlawful, harmful to the service, or inconsistent with these terms.

Your Content and Ownership

You retain ownership of text you write, paste, check, or submit. Grammarlyzer does not claim ownership of your draft, document, message, essay, or other user-provided text. You are responsible for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to submit or process any content you provide.

For routine browser-local checking, your draft is intended to stay on your device. For AI Polish, you grant the limited permission needed to transmit and process the submitted draft for the purpose of generating the requested rewrite. You are responsible for reviewing any output before using it.

Grammarlyzer's site design, guides, explanations, branding, code, interface elements, and original content are owned by Grammarlyzer or its licensors, except where third-party materials are identified. You may link to public pages and quote short excerpts with attribution, but you may not copy, republish, or resell substantial portions of the site as a competing service.

Accuracy and Professional Advice

Grammar suggestions and educational explanations are provided for general writing assistance. They may be incomplete, context-dependent, or wrong for a specific document. Automated grammar suggestions can miss nuance, style intent, legal meaning, citation requirements, school rules, brand voice, medical wording, contractual language, or professional obligations.

Grammarlyzer is not a law firm, medical provider, academic advisor, financial advisor, translation agency, or professional editing certification service. Nothing on the site should be treated as legal, medical, financial, academic, immigration, compliance, or other professional advice. You should consult a qualified professional when the consequences of wording are important.

Third-Party Services

Grammarlyzer may use third-party services for hosting, analytics, advertising, authentication, AI processing, or other site operations. Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices. Our privacy policy explains the current data-handling model for browser-local checking, AI Polish, analytics, ads, hosting logs, and contact messages.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience or reference. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, or policies.

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grammarlyzer disclaims warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation.

We do not guarantee that suggestions will be correct, that AI Polish output will fit your purpose, that every issue will be detected, that the site will always be available, or that every page will remain unchanged. You use suggestions, explanations, and generated rewrites at your own discretion.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grammarlyzer and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, reputational harm, business interruption, academic consequences, professional consequences, or reliance on a grammar suggestion or generated rewrite.

If liability cannot be fully excluded under applicable law, Grammarlyzer's total liability for claims related to the service will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use the service in the three months before the claim or ten U.S. dollars.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service, legal requirements, monetization, third-party providers, or operational practices. When we make a material change, we will update the date on this page. Your continued use of Grammarlyzer after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms.
