Account & Data Deletion

How to delete your Grammarlyzer account and the data linked to it

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ The Short Version

A Grammarlyzer account is only created when you sign in for AI Polish or Pro. You can delete that account and its data at any time from inside the app, in Settings โ†’ Account โ†’ Delete account. If you cannot open the app, you can request deletion through the contact page. Routine grammar checking never creates an account and stores no text on our servers.

Delete Your Account From the App

This is the fastest way and removes everything immediately:

  1. Open the Grammarlyzer app and make sure you are signed in.
  2. Go to the Pro tab, then the Account section.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm in the dialog. You may be asked to confirm your Google sign-in for security.

Once you confirm, your account and the data described below are deleted and the action cannot be undone.

What Gets Deleted

  • Your account identity (the sign-in record that links your data to you)
  • Your Pro entitlement and account status
  • Your AI Polish history
  • Your personal dictionary (protected terms)
  • Your AI Polish usage records

On-device data, such as locally cached history and your saved theme, is cleared from the device during deletion.

What This Does Not Do

  • โŒ It does not cancel an active Google Play subscription. Manage or cancel a subscription in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions โ†’ Subscriptions.
  • โŒ It does not request a refund. Refunds are handled by Google Play under their policies.

If you want to stop being billed, cancel the subscription in Google Play before deleting your account.

Request Deletion Without the App

If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, you can still ask us to delete your account and data:

  1. Open the contact page.
  2. Send a message that includes the email address you used to sign in and the words "Account deletion request".

We verify the request against the sign-in email, then delete the account and associated data. We may keep limited records where retention is required by law (for example, billing records that payment providers or tax rules require us to keep).

Timing

App-initiated deletions take effect immediately. Requests made through the contact page are completed within 30 days of verification, and usually much sooner.

Routine Grammar Checking

You do not need an account to check grammar. Routine checking runs on your device, and the text you check is never sent to or stored on a Grammarlyzer server. See the privacy policy for the full breakdown of how data is handled.
